Vino

Simple reviews of wines I have tried. Rated based on possible 5 stars.

Red Wines

Barefoot Shiraz
Smoky and slightly sweet. Dark berry flavor with a hint of mocha.

Barefoot Pinot Noir
Rich and spicy with cherry undertones.

Mon Ami Pinot Noir
Slightly dry. Complex. Hints of spices and strawberry.

Quady Red Electra
Sweet dessert wine with a spritzy mouthfeel. Grapey with an earthy cinnamon essence.

Mon Ami Concord
Very sweet with a distinct grapey taste.

Quarry Hill Buckeye Red
Almost overly sweet. Tastes very much like grape juice.

Mon Ami Spiced
Sweet and grapey with a delicate blend of spices.

Thorin Beaujolais Nouveau
Dry, acidic, woodsy. I described it as “flat”…the correct wine term is “backward” meaning the structure (acid and tannin) are in the forefront while everything else (fruit flavors, etc.) are hiding behind the structure.

White Wines

John Christ Niagara
Crisp, sweet, grapey.

Lucky Duck Riesling
Smooth and slightly sweet with a citrus essence.

Penguin Bay Riesling
Crisp and slightly sweet. Undertones of apricot.

Barefoot Pinot Grigio
Full-flavored yet still crisp and light. Floral essence with apple undertones.

Fetzer Valley Pinot Grigio
Crisp and earthy. Tropical essence with a hint of honey.

Fetzer Valley Gewürztraminer
Sweet-tart with a floral essence and peach undertones.

Debonné Chardonnay
Soft and creamy with an essence of butterscotch and vanilla.

Rosé Wines

Beringer White Zinfandel
Light, sweet, with an essence of berries.

Barefoot White Zinfandel
Sweet, crisp, and fruity.

Mon Ami Pink Catawba
Light and sweet. Grape and berry essence with floral undertones.

Breitenbach First Crush
Sweet-tart and crisp. Like lemonade made with grapes.
